Hopefully I'll get better at posting.  Some of you know, and some of you may not know, that Trevor and I are expecting baby #2 in April! YAY! So thats my excuse why I've been slacking on the blog.  I am just at 12 weeks, so hopefully I'll start feeling more motivated. I've been blessed to not have to much "morning" sickness, but I've had my days.  I just have gotten migraines and insomnia...which is not a good combo for me...but I'll take it over everything else that could be possible. I do love being pregnant, but I just forgot how exhausting the first tri is!
Well...wish me luck, off to battle my teething toddler.

Dread

Seriously, just need to say, I have been DREADING this post cause its been over a month!  I guess I don't need to go into detail...but for my mind to spark some memory I'm gonna jot down some highlights from our summer end!

August...oh where are you?  Was August like the fastest month for anyone else?  We went to Lagoon for a family reunion, and wow...I had a weak stomach.  The one of my HS friends got married and I was busy doing her bridal shower and then her wedding turned out BEAUTIFUL!  Did I grab pics? Of course not.  That would mean I'd have to remember something...but just trust me! Nicole looked like the perfect bride with a beautiful outdoor wedding and reception!

Then it was on to planning my very best friends baby shower.  I am so glad she and her family are so laid back because a baby shower is A LOT of work!  And I'd like to deem it a success because we had a good little crowd, and she got some super cute things!

THEN it was our California trip! I don't know how I've never been there...but seriously, I have been missing out!  We headed down and stayed a night in Elko.  We missed the EISF but we did got to Elko county fair.  About 1/8 the size of our fair, and we didn't eat anything...but we we were still thoroughly entertained by the mullets, belt buckles, thug-wanna-be's, and the live band that was hiding in a corner.  The next morning we headed on down to Sacramento to stay with my friend, Kat.  She had a day planned out for us, and we saw old town Sacramento.  We came at a good time because they brought dirt in to have dirt roads and the train museum was free! Ryk LOVED being around them and did not want to leave.  We stopped at an old candy store and Trev was seriously like a kid again!

The next day we headed to Santa Cruz area to go to the Mystery Spot.  Then to the beach...which wasn't at all what I thought it would be. BUT none the less, amazing!  It was super windy and cold and people probably thought we were idiots because we came busting out of our car in swimsuits with beach towels in hand.  UH...yeah we looked like tourists! We should've taken note of everyone in sweatshirts and blankets...but oh well.  There were only a couple of surfers who were INSANE cause the water was ice water!  We snapped some pics and then left.  It did clear up our day to go explore the city though...so no tan for moi but oh well.

We had some of THE best ice cream ever. And growing up in Idaho Falls, its hard to say you've tasted something better than Reed's Dairy Ice Cream...but this place had them beat.  I had this caramel, toasted pecan ice cream, sandwiched in a croissant roll, layered with chocolate, nuts and whip cream.  Pretty sure it was more than my daily caloric intake...but SOOO worth it.  Still fantasizing about the day I go back.  YUM!

The next day we played in the Redwoods and Ryk was in HEAVEN.  He loved being out of the car for one thing, but he was surrounded by dirt and rocks and all his boyish things.  We went on the easiest walk that was fenced off so he could self tour...which was a fabulous recommendation by the park ranger!

We then headed to San Francisco and I FELL in LOVE!  Freezing cold...but what a beautiful place!  I loved the culture.  There was SO much diversity and I just felt so much gratitude for being raised to respect all peoples!  It was SO fun.  There was a silver dancer man, prob in his 40's...he was so fun to watch. I made Trev give me some $$ to put in his can cause ya know...gotta support the dancers!  I just wanted to bust up there and dance with him, but well...I didn't.  Some day...some day.  We also went to some fun exhibits and aquariums, which I am sure if Ryker could remember anything, it would be that!  He had a blast.  We got our family drawn by a local artist...drove down Lombard Street and just really enjoyed being out of Rexburg!

We had some of the MOST amazing sandwiches EVERRR! Has anyone been to Ike's Place!?! OH.MY.DELISH!!!  Like the Ice Cream, I think every bite was better than the last!  YUM! Trev and I still talk about flying into San Fran JUST to get a sandwich!  Trev even wants to have them UPS us some up here...its just that good.  sigh...

Then back to Sacramento to see my Kat get married to her love.  It was a beautiful ceremony and sealing and somedays I wish I could marry Trev all over again just to decorate and throw a fun party!  I love weddings and receptions and I love remembering our special day that seems like so long ago!

Then we drove back ALL DAY Sunday.  It was a bittersweet time to pull in, cause I LOVE our apartment, but that was when our vacation ended and real life was back.  Trev started school the next day, Calculus II at 7:45am.  Yuck.  Now we are two weeks into the semester and enjoying the yummy crisp fall air, and bundling up in blankets, and hopefully will have some fun Fall/Halloween crafts to do!

I do have LOTS and LOTS of pics, but they are on Trev's comp so tune in later to see them.

Family Pics

I know. Its not Autumn yet...but August makes me think Autumn. And while the leaves aren't changing colors yet, I just know August will be over soon...and then it will be Apple Cider and Falling Leaves season! I used to LOVE summer, but I think I am really turning into a Autumn & Fall kinda girl! And since I don't go to school, I couldn't do a "Back to School" theme. Well...without further discussion, here is my pic post.

We had family pics taken awhile ago for Trev's family.  This is the Atkinson crew.

This last weekend we also went back down to Utah for Trev's family reunion.  We went to Lagoon. This time it was our first time as parents.  We spent more than half the day walking around looking for a ride that Ryker could go on. Luckily, Grandma was there and took Ryker so we could go on some rides.  I don't ever remember having a weak stomach.  I went on Re-Entry with my neice and I haven't been so nervous in so long! Over a ride! I was eating my stomach....and growling on the way down. Hahaha. It was fun, but I wish Ryker could have gone on more rides. Maybe in a couple years.
My little Superman. He even has a cute cape attached. Love this little boy!

Enjoying a leisure boat ride. He actually liked it which was surprising!

We rode the train to see the animals.

Being a big boy!

We took him on the log ride...he did great!
We also rode the carousel but it was nap time and he was not happy at all.  We waded at laguna beach and played in the FREEZING cold water. I wish we would've had a picture of him going down a water slide. He did an X and tried to stop himself the whole 4 feet down.  He was terrified! Hopefully he gets used to fun rides and we can take him to bigger parks that he can enjoy!

It was a great little getaway! We even got to stay with some of our long lost friends! Thanks Malorie and Trevor for letting us bum off ya! Come see us!!!

Camping & Pic Overload

Every summer Trevor's family has a weekend getaway.  It is always super fun! This year we went camping down by Soda Springs.  We had a lot of fun and made lots of funny memories! I couldn't ask for a better in law family!  They accept everyone and love you for who you are! We had a fun weekend and here are the pictures...they tell the story better than I could!
I did flip this pic before I downloaded...just turn your head! :)

Ryker poured pop all over himself, so he got to wear this makeshift snuggie while daddy ran back to camp to get jammies.

Quick Trip

We had such a short weekend! It went by WAY to fast. As always.  We had a birthday party for my niece on Friday night.  Poor girl got sick so we didn't really get to celebrate! I can't believe she is 12 and is off at girls camp this week! YIKES! I remember when she was Ryker's age.  And now she is into clothes and teenage girl things!

Then we headed to Utah.  We were able to stop by and hang out with our fun friends, Jeff & Amy.  They have some of the cutest little boys! Grant is a couple moths older than Ryker and he is talking and playing like such a big boy! We went and played at a park and had a fun little picnic.  We played in the sandbox and Ryk had a lot of fun dumping sand into the dump truck.  We also got to try out the swings again.  The last couple of times we've tried the swings, Ryk didn't not like them! But this time, he loved it! Up until he almost fell out.

I also got to meet up with the bestie, Megs.  We did a quick catch up while we walked through IKEA.  Surprisingly we both left empty handed.  I guess we were to busy talking and taking advantage of the AC.  She looked super cute with her 20 week little belly.  I forgot she was pregnant because I could hardly see her bump! But I did get to talk to her little man and do the creepy belly rub! Thanks Megs! I'm excited to see you again! I am SO excited because I finally get to throw her a baby shower! I missed her wedding so I didn't get to throw her any fun party then.  Its going to be SOOO fun!
(so you Idaho friends, mark your calendar and send me your address so you can come to her shower! August 27th)

Then we had our family pics...while we were waiting in Murray I called my sista (mission sista), Staci. Her and her hubby, Blake came over and we got to see them for a few minutes! I love that girl!  I wish I would;ve taken some pics with her! Dang it. :(

It was SO hot outside...all of us were sweating like crazy.  I hope they turn out good! We then went to get some gelato & pizza at Stettebello. OH.MY.WORD. SOOO good! We didn't get to eat the pizza cause Trev and I had to head back up to Ogden and it was already 10. The gelato was to die for! Its my new favorite and I am glad we live 3 hours away from it or else I would eat it daily! We stayed with my awesome Aunt & Uncle...who I adore. I don't really know a lot of our Utah family, there really is a lot of us all over. But Stella and Randy had kids in identical order and close to the same age as our family.  We all just grew up and played together since we were little.  I wish we were closer, but we all know how life goes.  We got to go to church with them and my cousin Stacey.

Then we headed up to see my Grandma & Grandpa in Bear River.  They seriously crack me.  I love them to pieces!! Ryker loves them and we had fun playing with legos and listening to Grandma tell her stories and update us on the fam.

We finally made it home and we were exhausted.  It was a long 36 hours!  Now Trev is facing finals week and I am SO excited to have him home for 7 weeks! Only 4 more days!

Need some dinner Ideas?

Be prepared to be amazed!  I am going to share some of my favorite recipes! I know...who am I turning into?  I just know how hard it is to find some yummy/easy recipes. I thought I'd share.  I have been cooking a lot more lately, probably because I am finding so my fabulous recipes...and Trevor usually takes the clean up duty. Love him!  Here are a list of things that I've made and all you have to do is click on them to find the recipe.  Hope you enjoy them as much as we did.

Asian Lettuce Wraps (I would add rice to it)

I have tried many a more recipes but these are so yummy I HAD to share!  I especially LOVE ourbestbites.com.  They have so many recipes that sound good...I just haven't tried them yet.

If you have some delish recipes you want to share with me I'd be ok with it.  Just email me or leave a link.  I am on the search for creating my own recipe index to pull from.  Thanks!
