4th of July Tribute

Craft night with my adorable sis in law, Linz.  We found these super cute fireworks blocks that we wanted to make, so we did.  If you want to see the original we copied, click {HERE}. You can't get the whole effect by looking at them, but they are my FIRST 4th of July decor I've put up.  Linz & I were saying how difficult it is to decorate for the 4th since you don't want to decorate mid June and the July is here way too quick and all the sudden you have to take it down.  So here is a small glimpse of my patriotism.

I have also had God Bless America stuck in my head! I love LOVE this song. I sang it at the fair a couple of years ago and the rendition was so beautiful.  By Celine Dion so of course its amazing!

I just wanted to shout out to the many Armed Forces who are serving our country.  I am thankful to those men and women who are serving and who have served to protect our freedom and nation.  I am thankful to those families who have sacrificed a family member for my right to be me.  I think about this nation a lot more than just on July 4th, but I am thankful for this special time of the year when we can reflect on what Freedom really means.

I look forward to celebrating our freedom.  I especially love the fireworks...(not the tarp-stealing crowds) but the moment when the Fireworks start, I feel united with the other 250,000 people who are gathered to watch the sky light up.  I love the feel of the launching fireworks pounding with my heart.  I love the whistle of the fireworks launching into the sky.  I love hearing the songs be sung and tearing up to God Bless the USA.

There are so many things I am thankful for, but the most important part of our Freedom I am thankful for is having a Father in Heaven who prepared this land for us to enjoy.  I am thankful for our forefathers creating a land where we can worship how, where and what we may.  I am grateful we have a land to call home.

My Table & Ties

Remember awhile ago I was telling you how I couldn't sleep because I was dreaming about painting my table? Well, I sort of finished it.  I want to put a decal or something else on the table.  Something feels like it is missing.  So I am asking you...what needs to be done to complete this table?

I love my table btw! I didn't take a before because I wanted to paint and didn't have the patience to snap the pic, but the table was pine colored. The chairs were a redish brown old color and then the seats were a hot wicker. Yum! Thats why it needed a makeover. And since we can't paint our apartment and my kitchen was feeling drab, I decided to paint.  I got my paint at WalMart...remember that post? YIKES!  In the end I am glad Trevor said I could paint it! :)

AND check out these adorable ties! I have the finishing touches to do before I hand them off to LuLu & Oliver Boutique...but before I did, I wanted to show you!  Cute huh! You want one? Let me know and I can make one for your Little Man.

Oh and did you vote for Ryker? If so, thanks...you can vote again and again and again! :)  There are some super cute kids and Ryker is one of them.  Help get our votes up eh? Thanks

National Get Outdoors Day! And some pics

Since Saturday was National Get Outdoors Day we decided we would.  We headed up to Mesa Falls and took a walk through the old cabin there. We got to see Smokey the Bear, and some cool water bugs...fresh water shrimp...and some animal furs. We also saw some stuffed bears and Ryker just enjoyed being outside. Ryker loves to throw rocks so Trev got him some rocks to toss into the falls.

We also stopped a couple of times on the way home so Trevor could get some rocks for his collection.  We grilled up some yummy teriyaki bacon wrapped chicken and pineapple.  After dinner we rode our bikes to the nature park and let Ryker chase some ducks.  It was a beautiful day to enjoy and we look forward to celebrating it next year and of course every nice day!

Then on Sunday we went and had some yummy greek food at Connie's! It was SO yummy! It was great to celebrate the outdoors with good weather!

He loves Piano...hopefully he gets Megan as a piano teacher!

New Sunglasses. He thinks they are pretty cool for the whole 5 seconds they stay on!

Riding up the Mt to go zipline...I was actually scared so thats why I was white knuckling the bar!

You can see the zipline above our heads.
(Don't mind my hair...Trev never tells me when it looks like I just woke up.)
Our nature walk

We originally had Ryk on this bike, but then we switched to my other bike.

Ryker is into pointing and saying, "Disth". So far it means everything.

Ryker's walking stick that he tried to throw

Throwing the football

Our little football star. He loves throwing things...hopefully it'll work out in 15 years!

See that throw?

3 years!

I got a text this morning from my brother in law, wishing me a Happy Anniversary.  I started laughing because I had totally forgotten!  Is that awful?!  Its ok though because we celebrated over the weekend, and I remembered last night before I sliced my finger in half.  But today, 3 years ago, I was married and sealed to my best friend.  It seems like we've been married for way longer since we've been together since high school...but I look forward to the next infinite years I get to be with this wonderful man!

We went to Park City. It was a spontaneous trip.  We decided on Friday that since it was a nice weekend we'd take advantage.  Connie was going to be in Utah so she took Ryker Saturday through Sunday.  And even though I missed Little Man, I realized how much I had been missing Trevor.  We had SO much fun just the two of us again.  We stayed with the Canchola's Friday night and got to meet their new sweet baby, Thomas.  It is hard to think how small newborns are...especially compared to my Ryk!

We then dropped Ryker off and headed through the canyon to Park City.  We LOVE PC.  We went shopping at the outlets and got Ryk some summer clothes and Trev and I got some new items too!  It was fun holding hands and walking faster than a stroller, and being able to spend time in a store without tantrums or chasing a toddler!  It was so great!  Then we checked into our hotel and got upgraded to a suite! We unpacked and then headed over to the zip line.We got to ride the chair lift up the mountain and take in the quiet beauty of the mountain side.  The zip line was pretty fun.  The scariest part was getting harnessed and having our knees up on the wall waiting for us to drop.  Then the wall dropped and we took off gliding down the mountain.  I wish it had lasted longer and went faster, but it was still fun!

We then walked main street to our dinner at the Bangkok Thai restaurant. First of all, Trev and I love Thai food. We walked up to the window and it had those rope lights and I thought, really? Do I want to eat at a restaurant with rope lights for our anniversary? I was a little hesitant but we went in anyway. I was SO wrong.  It was so nice inside!  And they were having a special on their 5 course meal...so we justified our anniversary and splurged.  And we didn't even regret it!! It was SOOO amazing! Every plate was unexplainable. It was so good!   We had a yummy mango & jicama appetizer, Tom Kha soup, the most delicious Pad Thai ever! I had a honey chipotle seasoned duck and Trev had an amazing sea bass. And for dessert I had flamed bananas and coconut ice cream and Trevor had a chocolate cake and coconut ice cream! Yum.  It makes me crave it talking about it! And yes...we ate it all! The proportions were perfect size and I would totally recommend it!

We then shared the pool and hot tub with a soccer team...which was to say the least not romantic. :) It brought me back to my jr high days, getting to stay the night with the cheer squad.  I could understand because I remember being14 and feeling  like I was the center of the universe, but needless to stay we didn't stay long with a group of screaming hyper girls.

Sunday we went to the visiting ward and heard some funny testimonies.  I love visitors wards cause no one is there for callings. Everyone is there on vacation in a stress free environment.  We then packed up and headed out on a hiking trail.  We just walked a couple of miles, but it was a beautiful day. So many people were out running, cycling, fishing...just really living.  I love active communities like Park City and Denver. I love where people love life and take advantage of it! It is really refreshing to see people exercising!

Trev collected some rocks for his future collection he was going to start. :) Then we went and picked up Ryker, celebrated our nephew's birthday with a yummy bbq and headed home! It is nice to be home, and I know Ryker missed his toys. As soon as we put him down in our house, he ran to his toy box and started playing with his toys. I missed him like crazy but it was so fun to spend a quiet weekend with Trev! I love him so much and being with him helped me remind me how much I love him!

Onto another subject...yesterday I was making dinner and used a knife to open a bag like I have a million times, but this time I sliced my left index finger pretty good! As much as I wanted to cry I couldn't. Ryker knew mommy was hurt and he cried and whined and wanted to sit with me. He wanted me to hold him and love him which was so precious.  I could tell he was worried.  As soon as I sliced my finger I yelled for Trev and Trev dressed my wounds.  He was so gentle and careful and really babied me which was so sweet! He finished dinner, bathed Ryker, missed his basketball game and played with Ryk the rest of the night so I could  baby my finger. I did take a picture but I dont think you want to see it! Who knew you needed your left index finger? haha.  I cut the cushion fingerprint horizontally. It took awhile for it to clot cause it was so deep.  And everytime I try and point to something it feels like I am ripping it open.  The statement is true, "You don't realize what you have til its gone."  I don't have feeling in the tip of my finger...hopefully my body will figure it out! Until then, if you see me with my hand raised its not cause I have a question! :)

We do have pics of our fun trip but Trev has them on his phone.  We had a lot of fun and I would always recommend Park City if you need a fun getaway!
